As a friend on Facebook says, someone appears to be planning to play football at the Beyonce concert this Sunday.

I love it.

I don’t love Football, BUT, this season especially I’ve had a blast learning a TINY bit more about it thanks to Jay and some of our BFF’s.  Apparently when you buy a house with someone you don’t get to ALWAYS sneer at what they like to watch on TV.

Whatever, I’m over it.

The best part about football, whether you’re at a game or on your couch, as we all know, is the food!

I don’t think that sentence was grammatically correct.

If you remember last year about this time, Jay and I took a month off eating meat.  We loved it, and now we have several vegetarian meals a week.  It’s healthier, better for the environment, and better for our wallets.  Plus, there are some DELICIOUS vegetarian options available!

Super Bowl food is not traditionally meat-free, or healthy.  So, what to do when someone you love so much is coming to watch the big game with you but really doesn’t love meat?  Serve them veggies covered in cheese, that’s what.  Duh.

Here are a few ideas for meat-free snacks on Sunday.  They aren’t all healthy, and that’s just fine for this one day, don’t you think?  Click the title for the original post and recipe.

Spinach Artichoke Stuffed Mushrooms

I mean, come on.  So delicious, and bite sized so they don’t make a mess.  If you aren’t into mushrooms, bake the filling in a small dish for 20 minutes at 350F until bubbly and serve with chips or pita.  Easy dip!

Pimiento Cheese

This version is REALLY good. Not too creamy, pretty spicy, and slightly tangy.  Serve it with crackers, chips, warm as a dip, or on teeny slider buns or dinner rolls as sandwiches.  I’m seriously considering adding this to my menu for Sunday now….

Toasted Chick Peas

These ARE healthy, and super delicious.  You can flavor them any way you want, and they make a great snack alternative to dumb boring peanuts.  Seriously.

Layered Bean Dip

I actually AM making this this weekend – but with vegan chorizo as an added layer.  This dip just as is, though, is a SERIOUS crowd pleaser.  One thing that I simply can’t make enough of.  It’s easy and can be made ahead, too – go for it!

Garlic Blue Cheese Pull-Apart Bread

Again.  So easy.  So flavorful. SO can’t make enough of this one.  You can skip the cheese, add a different kind, or go with the blue – it’s a really great addition to the garlic butter.

I mean….obviously you know I’m going to share with you a list of meat-inclusive items that will be great on Sunday too.  But wouldn’t this be enough?  These things are SO delicious and decadent….the men coming to my house may be disappointed on Sunday with the lack of beef.

Sorry I’m not sorry.
